PURPOSE: To simplify the constitution of a magnetic tape, by connecting a magnetic tape to which no calender process is applied to another magnetic tape with which the calender process is through and therefore eliminating mechanically the matters attached to the tape while the tape is traveling.

CONSTITUTION: A magnetic tape underwent no calender process is connected another tape underwent a calender process (preferably in a 2W5cm range) to obtain a head cleaning effect. The matters attached to a head are removed mechanically even with a slight length of a tape underwent no calender process. Thus a smooth head surface is obtained to recover the electromagnetic conversion characteristics. Such a magnetic tape serves as a head cleaning member with an extremely high efficiency.
