PURPOSE: To improve the reliability of the electric contact between conductive springs and a deflecting electrode by installing ring-like bead glasses in a surface perpendicular to the tube axis and near the terminal of the deflecting electrode and installing two pairs of conductive springs between the ring-like bead glasses in such a manner as to cause each pair of conductive springs to face each other.
CONSTITUTION: Near the terminal of a deflecting electrode 8 in an outer glass tube 1A, ring-like conductive spring support bead glasses 15 are installed in a surface perpendicular to the tube axis. After that, four conductive springs 12 one end of each of which if fixed to a stem lead 14 are supported between the bead glasses 15 in such a manner as to cause each pair of conductive springs 12 to face each other, thereby bringing the contacts between the conductive springs 12 and the bead glasses 15 into contact with the surface of the deflecting electrode 8. Owing to the above constitution, the conductive springs 12 support the bead glasses 15 in a surface perpendicular to the tube axis, thereby enabling the contacts of the conductive springs 12 to touch the deflecting electrode 8 with homogeneous elastic force and with a good stability. In addition, entirely no stress is given to a G1 electrode 9 which influences an electron beam current, thereby stabilizing the action of the electrode 9 to a great extent.
