PURPOSE: To reduce the pressure of waves acting on legs and pipes by a method in which a water intake pump and a water intake pipe are housed in a pipe whose one side is attached to the jack frame and the other is attached slidably to the hull, and the pipe is vertically moved.
CONSTITUTION: In a water intake device using an outboard pump, the jack frame 8 to vertically move legs is provided on a ship, pipes 1 for housing a vertically slidable pump are inserted into round holding holes 7a in the holders 7 provided to the jack frame 8 and the ship bottom, and plural intake pumps 5 and intake pipes are housed in the pipes 1. Racks 3 provided on the peripheries of the pipes are set in a vertically movable manner in the groove 7b of the inner call of the holding hole 7a, and a driver to veritcally move the pipes 1 with couplement to the racks 3 is provided to the hull 6. The weight can be reduced, and the pressures of waves acting on the legs 10 and the pipes 1 can be reduced.
