Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a low overvoltage cathode having high durability, by using the alloy compsn. consisting of three components; X; Ni or Co, Y; Al, Zn, Mg or Si, Z; noble metals or Re in the range enclosed of specific four points in the diagram. CONSTITUTION:A three components alloy consisting of component X; (Ni or Co), Y(Al, Zn, Mg or Si), and Z(noble metals or Re) is used. The compsn. is within the range enclosed by the following points A, B, C and D of the diagrams consisting of the three components of X, Y and Z. The compsn. is, by weight %, A(X=99.6, Y=0, Z=0.4) B(X=79.6, Y=20, Z=0.4) C(X=40, Y=20, Z=40), D(X= 40, Y=0, Z=60). The electrode active metallic particles consisting of the alloy having such compsn. are dispersed uniformly in a plating bath and the alloy layer thereof is provided on an electrode core by a co-electrodeposition, coating, dipping, baking, or electroplating method.
