PURPOSE: To form a uniform coating film, while inhibiting the formation of defects in the coating film, by applying upper and lower streams to a coating liquid with a straightening vane during pouring said coating liquid onto a workpiece to be coated, and pulling up the workpiece to be coated.

CONSTITUTION: By letting a coating liquid 2 flow through the outflow port 16 16 of a gutter 15, the coating liquid 2 is stopped with a buffle plate 7 and an inclined plate 18 on the way and reserved in a coating tank 1, wherein gas bubbles in the liquid 2 are eliminated by the vertical motion of a straightening vane 4. On the other hand, a workpiece W to be coated being hung down from a carrying tool 17 is carried to a position below the outflow port 16 and then pulled upwards. Thus, the formation of defects such as pin holes or hard spots in the coating film can be inhibited.
