PURPOSE: To prepare a polymer of uniform quality in high yield, by polymerizing ethylene or a mixture thereof with a ≥3C α-olefin in the presence of a specific catalyst under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Ethylene or a mixture thereof with a ≥3C α-olefin is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst obtained from (A) a solution obtained by bringing an Mg compound expressed by formula I (R1 is 1W20C alkyl or 7W20C aralkyl; R2 is 8W10C alkyl; 0≤l<1) into contact with a Ti compound expressed by formula II (R3 is 1W20C alkyl; X1 is halogen; 0≤m≤4) in the presence of an inert hydrocarbon solvent and (B) an organoaluminum compound expressed by formula III (X2 is the same atom as X1; X4 is 1W12C alkyl or phenyl; 1<n< 3) at 30W300°C temperature under <200kg/cm2 pressure. Preferably, the Ti compound is used in an amount of 0.01W0.5mol based on 1mol Mg compound.
