PURPOSE: To check the existence of a disc in an apparatus easily from the external with a simple constitution by arranging a transparent plate with a comparatively large area on a part of an outer case and incorporating a light source irradiating the surface of the disc to allow the disc to generate interference fringes in the outer case.
CONSTITUTION: The transparent plate 25 with a comparatively large area is arranged over the upper plate part 23 and front plate part 24 in a part of the outer case 21 so that the inside of a player can be observed through the transparent plate 25. The light source 27 is arranged so as to irradiate the upper surface of the disc 26. When light is emitted from the light source 27, interference fringes 26A with seven reflected colors can be seen on the surface of video disc 26. When the video disc 26 is attached in the video disc player, the existence of the disc 26 can be easily checked with a wide angle of observation by the interference fringes 26A through the transparent plate 25 from the external, i.e. front and upper directions.
