PURPOSE: To load and unload correctly discs different in diameters while moving their centers along the same locus, by arranging two disc guide members having disc detecting means in the longitudinal direction of a disc insertion entrance and driving them differentially.
CONSTITUTION: Two disc guide members 4 and 4' are provided in the longitudinal direction of a disc insertion entrance and are stood on supporting bases 8 and 8'. Supporting bases 8 and 8' can be moved laterally along guide rails 5 and 5' through pulleys 6 and 6' and are moved differentially by a wire 13 stretched between pulleys 10 and 11 driven by motors which are not shown in figure. Disc guide members 4 and 4' have optical sensors 17 and 17' and detect the insertion of a disc 2 to control driving mechanism which are not shown in figure, and supporting bases 8 and 8' are moved differentially to the outside or the inside. Thus, the disc 2 is loaded correctly while keeping the locus of the center of the disc 2 constant independently of the size of the diameter of the disc 2.
