PURPOSE: The antiphlogistic having improved antiphlogistic action and low toxicity, capable of being medicated orally, through intestine, or parenterally, comprising an α-(substituted methylene)-γ-butyrolactone derivative as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: An antiphlogistic comprising an α-(substituted methylene)-γ- butyrolactone derivative shown by the formulaI{R1 a group shown by the formula II[R2 and R3 are lower alkyl or R2 and R3 may be linked to give -(CH2)n-; n is 1W3; R4 is H or lower alkoxy], a group shown by the formula III (X1 is H or halogen), a group shown by the formula IV (X2 and X3 are halogen; R5 is lower alkyl), pyridyl, anthryl, dihydropyranyl} as an active ingredient. A tablet, syrup, etc. may be cited as its pharmaceutical preparation, and the antiphlogistic can be medicated as the pharmaceutical preparation having a unit of the active ingredient of 1mgW5g, preferably 3mgW1g.
