Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable continuous casting of a thin billet by providing a bar for breaking a solidified shell moving along the side wall of a short side wall.
CONSTITUTION: A triangular bar 2 for breaking a solidified shell is provided along the side wall 1 of a short-side mold. The movable jig 3 on the top 4 of the short-side mold is connected with a driving device and the bar 2 and oscillates laterally the bar 2 to stir the molten steel on the contact surface of the mold. The formation and development of the solidified shell are prevented by such mechanism. Since the stable drawing of a thin billet is made possible, the continuous casting of the billet is made possible.
