PURPOSE: To contrive protection of a human body by alarming a nap, by a method wherein when a pulse rate calculated by the output of cardiopotential detecting electrode provided on a steering wheel gets out of a predetermined range, an alarm signal is sent out and applies predetermined tension to a seat belt.
CONSTITUTION: When a right or left hand of a driver is touched to metallic electrodes 11, 12 provided on a steering wheel 6, a potential difference responding to cardiopotential of the driver is detected between both electrodes. The potential difference is applied to a controller 8. The controller 8 calculates a pulse rate based on the potential difference, and breaks an alarm signal when a calculated value gets out of a predetermined range. With this alarm signal, an alarm 15 is operated and an electric motor 7 of a belt wind-up device 2 is driven, through which predetermined tension is added to a seat belt 1.
