PURPOSE: To economize fixation heat and to improve the durability of a roll by having a blank mode by which a copy having a blank rear surface is obtd. and decreasing or releasing the pressurizing force on the roll pair of a fixation device with the heat roll when the blank mode is selectively executed.
CONSTITUTION: Fixation device with the heat roll is so constituted that a backup roll 34b made of rubber is pressed to a heat roll 34a contg. a heater H from the lower side by means of a lever 34c and an eccentric pressurizing cam 34d. Oil is coated through felt 34e on the roll 34a. When a blank mode wherein paper without carrying any image thereon is discharged onto a tray for copying on double sides is selectively excuted, the pressurization of the roll 34b upon the roll 34a is decreased or released by the effect of a solenoid controlled by a control device. The fixation heat is thus economized whereby the decreased consumption of the oil and the prolonged life of the rolls are resulted.
