PURPOSE: To provide a battery with high reliability, by minimizing to the utmost the deviation in parallelism between the top and bottom faces of the spacer.
CONSTITUTION: In a coin-shaped or button-shaped lithium battery, the deviation f in the parallelism between the bottom face 11 and the top face of the metal spacer 10, L-shaped in the cross section, enclosing the anolyte 9 is adapted to be less than 1/250 of the spacer diameter, whereby contact shortage between the sealing cap or the lithium and the collapsed anolyte is prevented. Minimizing the value of f, or providing accurate parallelism, is attained by control of the material plate, improvement in the drawing and contracting processes, use of precision dies, severe control of die setting and so forth.
