PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant resin without damaging transparency and thermal stability, by blending a flame-retardant of antimony pentoxide with a stabilizer of zinc.
CONSTITUTION: A flame-retardant of antimony pentoxide containing (A) 3W 18wt% M2O (M is Na or C) as an alkali metal, (B) 2W20wt% M'O (M' is Mg, Ca, Sr, or Ba) as an alkali earth metal, (C) 0.5W3wt% P2O5 as phosphoric acid and/or alkali phosphate, and (D) the rest of antimony pentoxide in a molar ratio of (M2O+M'O)/Sb2O5 of 0.5W1.2 in a molar ratio of M2O/M'O of 0.5W5.0 and in a weight ratio of P2O5/(M2O+M'O) of 0.02W0.2, is blended with zinc 6W24C organic monocarboxylate in a weight ratio of zinc organic monocarboxylate/ flame-retardant of 0.05W0.5. This flame-retardant is effective for making non-rigid resin blended with plasticizer and rigid resin blended with reinforcing agent for impact strength into flame-retardant resin.
