PURPOSE: To enhance the durability of a filter cake cutting-off member by certainly removing a filter cake, in winding up filter cloth having the filter cake adhered thereto while taking a U-turn, by winding up the filter cloth while cutting off the filter cake by the filter cake cutting-off member.

CONSTITUTION: After filtering is finished, filter plates 1 are opened while the upper end of filter cloth 2 is fallen and said filter cloth 2 is fallen and said filter cloth 2 is downwardly run by the winding energizing force of a filter cloth winding-up roller 6. In this case, both lateral end parts of the filter cloth 2 are allowed to take a U-turn by a filter cloth reversal guide rod 8 and the filtering part thereof having a filter cake 14 adhered thereto is largely and irregularly vibrated to shake off the greater part of the filter cake 14. Subsequently, the filter cloth 2 is passed through the gap 13 between a filter cloth guide plate 10 and a filter cake cutting-off plate 11 by the guide of the filter cloth guide plate 10 and a filter cake cutting-off member 9. By this method, the edge part 11a of the filter cake cutting-off plate 11 is inserted between the filter cloth 2 and the filter cake 14 to forcibly peel off the filter cake 14 from the filter cloth 2 which is then successively wound up by the filter cloth winding-up roller 6.
