PURPOSE: To display both data on a one-line display and a one-page or partial page display simultaneously, and to improve the efficiency of operation, by using said displays, and allotting foreground processing and background processing respectively.

CONSTITUTION: The display control circuit of a word processor is provided with a display memory part 1 and a display switching ciruit 2; and a page display 4 is connected through the 1st display control circuit 3 connected to the circuit 2, and a one-line display 6 with high resolution is connected through the 2nd display control circuit 5. Then, a display switching control signal S is applied to AND gate circuits 2AW2D of the circuit 2 to select data in page and one-line display memories 1A and 1B, and foreground processing and background processing and allotted to those display devices 4 and 6 to display both data simultaneously, thus improving the operation efficiency of the word processor.
