Abstract:

PURPOSE:To carry out the uniform disintegration and dispersion of a whisker cake of SiC or Si3N4, in a short time, without damaging the whisker, by compressing the whisker cake, and stirring the cake if necessary in water. CONSTITUTION:A whisker cake of SiC or Si3N4 is filled in a mold and pressed, or is pressed by passing through the narrow gap between rolls. When the flake of the whisker obtained by the compression is stirred as it is or in water, it is instantaneously disintegrated after the start of stirring, and dispersed completely within several seconds. Accordingly, the breakage of the whisker by the stirring operation can be prevented.
