Abstract:
PURPOSE:To aim at improvements in propulsion efficiency by a propeller, by reducing a rotational flow to be generated rearward the propeller with both upper and lower rotors combined. CONSTITUTION:At a stern rear end part more frontward than a propeller 2, there are provided with an upper rotor 7a and a lower rotor 7b at both upper and lower parts of a propeller shaft 3 free of rotation with a rotation axis in vertical directions as the center. The upper rotor 7a and the lower rotor 7b are made so as to be rotated and driven in the opposite direction with each other by a rotor rotation drive mechanism so as to make a flow of water flowing in the propeller 2 twist in the opposite direction to a direction of rotation in the propeller 2. Rotation of the propeller shaft 3 is transmitted to the upper rotor 7a and the lower rotor 7b via a power transmission mechanism whereby these rotors 7a and 7b are rotated and driven in the opposite direction with each other according to rotation of the propeller 2. With this constitution, a rotational flow due attributable to the propeller 2 is brought to nothing, thus propulsion efficiency is improved.
