PURPOSE: To allow an easy maintenance and inspection of a feed belt and image forming units and a selective use of a feed unit and a display unit by a method wherein a base unit and the image forming units juxtaposed to each other are installed to a frame body, and at least one of the feed unit and the display unit is pivotably fixed on the frame body so as to open and close.
CONSTITUTION: A base unit 1 and one or more image forming units 2 juxtaposed to each other vertically or longitudinally are connected to a frame body 4. By opening a feed unit 3 or a display unit 5, open parts of the image forming units 2 as recording positions and an inlet/outlet of the base unit l for a paper cassette 10 are opened, and various maintenance and inspection operations and an item replacement operations can be conducted. As an alternative to replaceably installing one of the feed unit 3 and the display unit 5, the both units may be pivotably fixed on the frame body 4 at the same time. In this case, the feed unit 3 is pivotably fixed on the left end of the frame body 4 with hinges 6 so as to open leftward, and the display unit 5 is pivotably fixed on the right end of the frame body 4 with hinges 6 so as to open rightward.
