PURPOSE: To obtain the titled yarns capable of separating even minute substances, and having improved permeability, by spinning hollow yarns having plural layers from a thermoplastic organic high polymer, and drawing the resultant yarn to form micropores under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Thermoplastic organic high polymers are separately fed and melt extruded through the respective outlets of a nozzle having plural annular coaxially arranged outlets to give hollow yarns having two or more layers of different thicknesses, which are if necessary annealed and drawn to form larger micropores in the thicker layer and smaller micropores in the thinner layer, the micropores in the respective layers and between the layers being mutually communicated and connected from one surface to the other surface. The resultant yarns are then heat-set to affored the aimed hollow yarns.
EFFECT: The compatibility with a living body, e.g. blood, can be improved.
