Title:
NON-CROSSLINKED POLYETHYLENE RESIN EXPANDED PARTICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6020943
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled expanded particles which have excellent moldability and gives moldings having mechanical strength and dimensional stability equal to or better than those of crosslinked polyethylene resin expanded moldings, by pre-expanding a specified polyethylene resin in a non-crosslinked state as a base material.

CONSTITUTION: Expanded particles comprises a base resin composed of a non- crosslinked polyethylene resin having a melt index of 0.7g/10min or below, a melt index ratio of 40 or above and a crystalline m.p. of 113°C or above. Examples of the polyethylene resins are ethylene homopolymer, crystalline copolymers contg. at least 50mol% of ethylene units obtd. from ethylene and a copolymerizable monomer and their mixture. When the apparent density of the expanded particle is higher than 0.3g/cm3, mold clamping pressure in molding must be elevated, a high temperature is required to completely fuse particles, shrinkage marks are liable to form and blistering caused by post expansion is liable to occur which are undesirable.
