PURPOSE: To provide the titled element which has a good luminescent quantum efficiency even by low-voltage driving, by providing a luminescent layer composed of an electron-donating org. compd. layer, an electron-accepting and electron-donating org. compd. layer and an electron-accepting org. compd. layer between two electrode layers.
CONSTITUTION: A luminescent layer 2 having a thickness of 0.01W1μm, composed of a three-layer structure consisting of a first luminescent layer 4 having a thickness of 500, composed of a molecular built-up film of an electroluminescent org. compd. capable of relatively donating electrons to a second luminescent layer 5, the second luminescent layer 5 having a thickness of 500, composed of a molecular layered film of an electroluminescent org. compd. capable of relatively accepting electrons from the first layer 4 and donating electrons to a third luminescent layer 6, and the third luminescent layer 6 composed of a monomolecular or built-up film of an electroluminescent org. compd. capable of relatively accepting electrons from the second layer, is formed between a transparent electrode 1 of 0.01W0.2μm in thickness and an opaque electrode 3 of 0.1W 0.3μm in thickness.
