PURPOSE: To improve reliability of electrical connection between electrode base plates which face each other by forming the electrode patterns facing each other on the same plane of the base plate having flexibility and folding the base plate.

CONSTITUTION: A plastic resin or film having flexibility is used as a base plate 1. A transparent conductive film is formed by sputtering or depositing by evaporation SnO2, In2O3 or a mixture composed of SnO2 and In2O3 on the plate 1 to about 100W700. Said film is etched to form patterns for terminal parts 10 and lead-out electrodes which are drawn out to terminal parts 3. An oriented film consisting of, for example, a polyimide resin having 5W700 thickness is formed on the liquid crystal layer side of the plate 1 and is oriented by rubbing. A sealant 3 is printed thereon and after glass fiber fragments are sprayed thereon, the base plate is folded and assembled at a dotted line part 5. The sealant 3 is heated to cure and a liquid crystal 4 is filled into the inside. The feed port is sealed 7 by silicon resin. Generation of defective electrical conduction is obviated as there are no upper and lower conductive parts which are susceptible to environmental change in temp., humidity, and mechanical impact.
