Abstract:

PURPOSE:To prevent the head part of a valve from violently colliding against a valve seat and reduce a seating sound of the valve being a part of the noise of an engine, by tightening a brake sleeve, driven to be moved with a valve stem, in the internal peripheral direction when the valve is closed. CONSTITUTION:If an intake exhaust valve 1 is moved in the direction of closing, a brake sleeve 11 is driven to be moved with a valve stem 1a, and a tapered part 13 is forcibly brought in contact with the seat part 18 of a brake guide 12 immediately before the valve reaches its seat. As a result, the brake sleeve 11 is tightened in the internal peripheral direction, and the valve stem 1a is strongly held to be pressed. Accordingly, the intake exhaust valve 1 moved upward by tension of a valve spring 6 receives brake action caused by forcibly holding the brake sleeve 11 just before the valve is seated to a valve seat 7, and the valve is gently seated with its speed reduced.
