PURPOSE: To attain an intermediate transfer material, which has a high efficiency of thermal transfer of a toner image and is superior in mechanical strength and durability, of an electrophotographic copying device, by laminating a heat resisting elastic layer and a surface layer consisting of a specific silicone rubber in order on the surface of a supporting material.
CONSTITUTION: A toner image attained by developing an electronic latent image on a photosensitive drum 9 by a developing sleeve 13 is transferred to an intermediate transfer roll 1 (a heat lamp 17 is incorporated) and is printed onto a copy paper 24. The intermediate transfer roll 1 used in this electrophotographic copying method is constituted by laminating a heat resisting elastic layer 38 (such as a layer which is formed with a high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber and has a rubber hardness of 10W70° and a thickness of 0.1W3mm) and a surface transfer layer 39 on a metallic supporting material 37 (such as an aluminium cylinder), and this transfer layer 39 is formed with a low (or normal) temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (with rubber hardness of 10W70° and thickness of 5W500μ) consisting essentially of an addition polymerization-type silicone rubber.
