PURPOSE: To ensure the detection of foreign material in films, on which a pattern is printed, quickly, by inspecting the surface of the running laminated films on the side opposite to the printed surface by a reflecting type laser checking machine.
CONSTITUTION: Laminated films 1 are rewound from a delivering side 2 of a rewinding machine to a winding side 3 with the printed side surface facing upward. A laser beam is projected and scanned on the surface on the side opposite to the printed surface of the laminated films 1 by a laser scanning device 4. The reflected light is received by a light receiving device 5. The reflected light, which is inputted to the light receiving device, undergoes photoelectric conversion. The converted electric signal is transferred to a microcomputer 6, where the size of the defect indicating the presence or absence of a foreign material is digitally compared with a judging reference. The judgment for pass or fail and position information are outputted. The detected defect signal is transferred to a labeller, and a label is attached to the position where the foreign material is present in the laminated films.
