Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition of good fluidized processability, comprising a copolymer derived mainly from methyl methacrylate and a specific multistage-structured acrylic copolymer.

CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprising (A) 1W99wt% of a copolymer derived from (i) 50W98wt% of methyl methacrylate, (ii) 1W25wt% of styrene or vinyltoluene, and (iii) 1W25wt% of maleic anhydride and (B) 99W1wt% of a multistage-structured copolymer synthesized by the following three kinds of reactions successively in this order: 1st step: a polymerization of 5W50pts.wt. of a monomer (mixture) comprising 50W100wt% of methyl methacrylate or styrene in the presence of the polymer obtained above, 2nd step: a second polymerization of 50W95pts.wt. of a mixture of 50W99.9wt% of 1W8C alkyl acrylate and 0.1W 50wt% of multifunctional monomer having at least two copolymerizable C-C double bonds, 3rd step: a third polymerization of 10W1,000pts.wt. of a monomer (mixture) comprising 50W100wt% of methyl methacrylate or styrene, in the presence of both polymers obtained through the 1st and 2nd steps, respectively.
