PURPOSE: To obtain a catalytic compsn. which retards ability for accelerating hydrogenation reaction of benzene ring while maintaining excellent ability for isomerizing xylene by incorporating Pt, Ti, etc. and crystalline aluminosilicate as active components.
CONSTITUTION: At least two kinds of metal selected from (a) Pt, and (b) at least one kind selected from Ti, Pb, Cr, Zn, Ga, Ge, Sr, Y, Zr, Mo, Pd, Sn, Ba, Ce, and W, etc., and crystalline aluminosilicate having at least 10 molar ratio of silica/alumina and selected from zeolite ZSM-5, 11, 12, 35, and 38, are incorporated in a catalyst compsn. as active components. As the result, zeolite catalyst contg. Pt having superior isomerizing ability and selective deethylating ability for xylene as well as retarding remarkably ability for accelerating hydrogenating reaction of benzene nucleus, disproportion reaction of xylene, and transalkylation reaction between xylene and ethyl benzene, is obtd.
