Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of sticking on the sealing surfaces of an ion exchange membrane and a gasket in an electorlytic cell during disassembling of said cell by assembling said membrane and gasket after allowing a releasing agent and a chlorine resistant powder or granular material on the sealing surfaces between both. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of assembling an electrolytic cell for electrolyzing of aq. alkali metal chloride solns., a mixture of a releasing agent such as silicone oil and a chlorine resistant powder or granular material such as fluororesin or carbon is stuck by coating or the like on the sealing surfaces of an ion exchange membrane and a gasket. An electrolyzing operation is performed by using such membrane on an anode side. Since the damaging of the cation exchange membrane and the generation of sticking on the sealing surfaces during disassembly of the electrolytic cell are obviated by such use, the ion exchange resin is usable as it is.
