Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide possibility of pumping the liquid from a deeper place even when the running condition has caused inclination to the liquid surface in the sump by furnishing a car strainer with two or more intakes, which take in the working fluid through the corresponding number of places in the sump and with a valve to control opening/closing of said intake lines in linkage with the inertia force, gravity, etc. applied to the car. CONSTITUTION:The body 1 of a strainer 28 is furnished with intake ports 2a, 2b, which are to take in the working fluid from different places of the sump, and with an outlet 3 in connection with an oil pump. Bearings 5, 6 and valve seats 7, 8 are provided in a chamber 4 formed inside this body 1. These bearings 5, 6 support a shaft 9 slidably in the horizontal direction, and valve seats 10, 11 are fixed to the two ends of this shaft 9. When the running condition has caused inclination to the liquid surface in the sump, the shaft 9 moves also by the action of inertia force and/or gravity to shut one of the valve lids 10, 11 whichever is situated above and open the other. Thus the working fluid is taken in from one of the intake ports 2a, 2b which lies below.
