PURPOSE: To obtain plural required chrominance signals for color reproduction from one picture element, by providing a photoelectric converting section formed as a layer in a thicknesswise direction vertical to a substrate and a signal readout section having plural resistive imbedded gate electrodes.

CONSTITUTION: Unit picture elements are arranged in a matrix; m-column in horizontal direction and n-row in vertical direction. The resistive gate electrodes GB1, GB'1 are used to scan a signal of a DB1m from m-set of photo diodes DB11 arranged in horizontal direction. To read out a signal of the photo diodes, a voltage E1 is impressed between terminals A1 and A1', and a sawtooth signal RO1 is impressed via a capacitor and a voltage E2 is impressed between terminals B1 and B1', and the horizontal scanning is performed by applying a sawtooth wave RO2 via the capacitor, and a signal of the DB1m is read out on a signal line LB1 from the photo diodes DB11, a signal of a DG1m is read out to a signal line LG1 from the photo diodes DG11, and a signal of a DR1m is read out to a signal line LR1 from the photo diodes DR11.
