PURPOSE: To obtain the moderate surface roughness and hardness and to stabilize the tape running by adding a merged matter of graphite or carbon black of a specific quantity, respectively, and potassium titanate whiskers or rock wool fibers, respectively to a thermosetting resin.
CONSTITUTION: The guide post is formed by a composite material obtained by adding 10-40 weight pats in the total quantity obtained by merging graphite being a solid-state lubricant singly or with carbon black, and 5 - 20 weight pats singly potassium titanate whiskers or rock wool fibers being a reinforcing and sliding agent to 100 weight pats thermosetting resin. As for the graphite used as a lubricant, that of 0.1 - 10 μm particle diameter is used, and as for the carbon black, that of a range of 1 - 15 μm is used. In such a way, the magnetic tape running guide post has correct hardness and surface smoothness, and also, its friction coefficient does not rise even under the environment of low humidity and low temperature, therefore, an excellent tape running property is obtained.
