PURPOSE: To realize the switching processing of high speed and large capacity by connecting the outgoing lines of switches arranged in accordance with all highways uniformly to the optical memories of another highway.

CONSTITUTION: An example in the case that time multiplicity n=32 and a number of highways m=8 is shown in the following. Time switches 13C, 13D are constituted respectively of 8-pieces of optical memory writing 1×32-optical switches 14C, 14D, 8×32-pieces of the optical memories 15A, 15B, and 8-pieces of optical memory reading 32×1-optical switches 16C, 16D. Then, the outgoing lines of the optical switches 14C, 14D of the switches 13C, 13D are connected uniformly to the optical switches 15A, 15B for another highway by every 32/8=4 lines. Through this configuration, the optical switches 14C, 14D can be used also as the switches for switching the highway, and a spatial position can be switched without using a space switch, and the time division type optical speech path of high speed and large capacity can be constituted.
