Abstract:

PURPOSE: The reactionof a specific halogen-containing silicon compound with an isocyanate salt is conducted using an alkylene glycol as a reaction promotor to produce the titled compound used as a polymer modifier from inexpensive and low-toxicity starting materials.

CONSTITUTION: The reaction of a halogen-containing silicon compound of the formula: RnSiX4-n (R is monofunctional hydrocarbon; X is halogen other than F; n is 0W3) such as dimethyldichlorosilane with isocyanic acid or an isocyanate salt of M(NCO)m (M is alkali or alkaline earth metal; m is 1, 2) or M(CON)m is conducted using an alkylene glycol, polyalkylene glycol or its ether or ester derivative (containing halogen-substituted derivatives) as a reaction promotor to produce the objectibe compound of RnSi(NCO)4-n. The application of the resultant compound enables a polymer to have characteristics originating from silicon.
