Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the inclining rigidity of a bearing by permitting a carriage and a guide member thereof to afford communication through an intake hole having the small diameter between respective thin grooves bifurcated in the central portion of respective thin loop-like grooves provided along respective opposed sides of a quadrilateral bearing surface. CONSTITUTION:When compressed gas is supplied through a gas supply pipe 9, it is supplied into a bearing gap between a guide member 1 and a carriage 2 from respective gas supply holes 7 through a gas supply path 8. A thin groove 6 on a bearing surface is byfurcated left and right symmetrically by flat surfaces 10, 10. Any gas flow does not cross the flat surfaces 10, 10 and the distribution of pipe path resistance from a gas supply hole 7 to both ends of the thin groove 6 becomes approximately constant. When the carriage 2 generates pitching, pressure at the narrower side of the bearing gap is raised to provide stability to inclination. The bearing surfaces 3, 3 and 5, 5 act to provide stability respectively to the pitching and rolling of the carriage 2 and bearing surfaces 4, 4 to yawing.
