PURPOSE: To perform destaticizing completely by carrying out entire-surface exposure simultaneous with DC electrostatic charge, AC or bias AC electrostatic charge for potential level adjustment which is accompanied by entire exposure when necessary, and entire-surface exposure in order.

CONSTITUTION: A residual electrostatic latent image is erased before a new original is copied. For the purpose, a +7kV DC voltage is impressed to a corotron electrifier to perform positive corona electrostatic charge while the entire-surface is irradiated with light to 100lux.sec; and the corotron electrifier is impressed with a 6kV AC voltage generated by superposing a +50VC voltage to perform the AC corona electrostatic charge for potential adjustment, holding the photosensitive body at -20V. Lastly, the entire-surface exposure is carried out to complete the destaticizing operation.
