Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attain accurate linear interpolation without using division by forming inclinations indicating straight lines in respective sections constituting a polygonal line and the coordinates of an original point in a storage device as a data table when a curve is made approximate to the polygonal line. CONSTITUTION:To make a curve similar to a polygonal line, inclinations (ai) indicating straight lines in respective sections constituting the polygonal line and the coordinates (xi, yi) (i=1-n) of original points of respective straight lines are stored in the storage device as a data table. In case of finding out the approximate value (y) of the curve for input data x on the basis of linear interpolation, the coordinates of the original point and the inclination in a section including input data (x) are retrieved from the data table and the interpolated value (y) is found out by y=ai(x-xi)+yi. Consequently, the interpolated value can be found out without using division, so that the processing speed is increased, the capacity of a memory can be reduced and high accurate linear interpolation can be attained because how to fix each linear section is not limited.
