PURPOSE: To drop an optical threshold voltage of a liquid crystal, and to make a displace luminance uniform in case of a large-sized matrix display, etc., by thinning a thickness of a liquid crystal layer of a liquid crystal display panel, in a place where a voltage is attenuated, in the direction in which an electrode group having a longer electrode length is extended.
CONSTITUTION: In case when a large-sized display is executed by a liquid crystal display panel having a matrix type electrode structure, where an electrode 3 on a substrate 1 of the opposed surface of the substrate 1, 2 is extended longer than an electrode 3 on the substrate 2, a transmitting end 4 is placed at thicker end of a wedge shape, and as for the opposite side end in which a voltage is attenuated, the liquid crystal layer is thinned. In this way, in case of a thin liquid crystal layer, an optical threshold voltage of a liquid crystal is made small so that a picture element can be lighted even by an attenuated voltage, and a display luminance which is uniform extending over the whole surface can be obtained.
