PURPOSE: To set the opening of a supporting roller suited for a material to be inspected automatically by adjusting the rotating angle of an eccentric cam in accordance with the outside diameter of a material to be inspected and setting the opening or closing degree of the supporting roller by means of said eccentric cam.
CONSTITUTION: A supporting roller 5 is provided freely rotatably at one end of arms 7 rotating with the pressing force of an oil hydraulic cylinder 9 around a shaft 6 disposed on the concentrical circle of a material to be inspected. The other ends of the arms 7 are connected respectively by means of link mechanisms 8, and the link motion of the arms is effected by the pressing force from one end. When the diameter of a material 2 to be inspected is inputted to a storage device 14 in which the relations between the diameters of inspecting materials and the rotating angles of an eccentric cams 12 are stored, the cam 12 is rotated at a prescribed angle by a commander 15. When the cylinder 9 operates, the roller 5 closes but is stopped at a prescribed opening by a stopper 11. The opening of the supporting roller in this time is the opening suited for the inspecting material and the inspection is started.
