PURPOSE: To lessen a dispersion in the density of picture recorded by equalizing the surface temperatures of heating resistors by using a system in which voltage to be applied to the heating resistors is controllably varied on the basis of the intrinsic heating characteristics of the heating resistors.
CONSTITUTION: Plural heating resistors R1, R2,...Rn are grouped into a proper number of groups according to their resistance values. Information for discriminating the groups to which the heating resistors belong is stored in memories 11W14. The contents stored in the memory I are orderly read out, and "AND" with the temporary memory content (picture information VD corresponding to one main scanning line) of a register 40 to be outputted synchronously with the reading is taken orderly in AND gate 31. The memory content of the memory I corresponding to the heating resistors in heating operation among the group I is shifted to given bit position in the shift register 50. Even in the case of the heating resistors of groups IIWIV, after the output operation to the register 50, optimum voltage is likewise applied orderly from a voltage controller 70.
