PURPOSE: To prepare heat insulating material free from deformation readily in a preparing process of heat insulating material obtained by expanding and forming expandable material supplied between an upper and a lower metal hoop material by using a conveyor of a specific shape for carrying hoop material with projecting stripes.
CONSTITUTION: A lower metallic hoop material 2 guided from a reel 10 where projecting stripes 3 are formed by a projecting stripes forming machine 11 in a lengthwise direction and an upper metallic hoop material 1 guided from a reel 9 are carried respectively by conveyors 5, 4. In the course of this carrying operation, expandable material 8 is supplied from an expandable material injecting device 13 between both hoop materials 1, 2 and cured to form heat insulating material. In the process described above, supporting projections 7 are provided on the conveyor 5 used, and the bottom part 6 of the projecting stripes 3 of the carrying hoop material 2 is supported by the projections 7 noted above to prevent deformation which is likely to occur at the bottom part 6.
