PURPOSE: To prepare the titled aqueous dispersion having low viscosity and excellent handleability, by dispersing an alkaline earth metal carboxylate by a media-type dispersing machine in the presence of a polyoxyalkylene-type nonionic surface active agent and anionic surface active agent.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous dispersion of a 7W36C carboxylic acid alkaline earth metal salt having an average particle diameter of ≤3.5μ, containing ≥45wt% of the carboxylate, and having a viscosity of ≤3,000 poise at 25°C, can be prepared by dispersing the carboxylate in water in the presence of 0.5W 10.0%, preferably 1.0W7.0% of a polyoxyalkylene-type nonionic surface active agent containing polyoxyalkylene chain in the molecule and having an HLB value of ≥6 (preferably 8W20) (preferably polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether-type surface active agent) and 0.02W10.0%, preferably 0.1W7.0% of an anionic surface active agent (preferably alkylarylsulfonic acid salt) using a media-type dispersing machine.
