Title:
METHOD FOR PLATING TITANIUM MATERIAL WITH NOBLE METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59162296
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a lightweight article having fine appearance such as spectacle frames by heat treating a Ti or Ti alloy material at a specified temp., chemically polishing the material, plating it with Ni after or while carrying out activation, and further plating the material with a noble metal. CONSTITUTION:A Ti or Ti alloy material is heat treated at 100-400 deg.C for >=5min, and it is chemically polished with a chemical polishing soln. to remove an oxide film on the surface of the material. The material is then plated with Ni after or while activating the surface with sulfuric acid or the like, and it is further plated with a noble metal. Thus, the Ti or Ti alloy material is perfectly plated with the noble metal without deteriorating the durability and lightness in weight.
