PURPOSE: To provide the subject fiber useful for woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, etc., capable of readily dividing into a prescribed number of individual components by stirring the fiber in hot water by adhering different kinds of polymers to each other to form a multi-layered fiber having a specific ratio of the long to short diameters in the cross section of the fiber.
CONSTITUTION: The objective fiber comprises polyethylene terephthalate copolymerized with 0.5-6mol% of 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate and a polyamide such as nylon 6 in a ratio of 1/10 to 10/1, the cross section of the fiber having a W/L ratio of 1/15 to 1/2 between the long diameter L of the cross section to the short diameter W, and the different kinds of the polymers being adhered to each other into a multi-layered structure in the short diameter direction, and the fiber being divided into 7 to 20 components. The fiber is readily by colliding or stirring the fiber in hot water of 95-130°C.
