PURPOSE: To recognize easily the presence of a screen program by judging a character broadcast program as a screen program and displaying the reception when a control signal included in a character broadcast signal satisfies conditions required for the transmission of screen.

CONSTITUTION: The character broadcast signal consists of a page control packet (a) and a display information packet (b), a display control section DC designates a fix and a scroll, the presence of super-display, concealment and flicker in an inverted phase, a service identification/interruption control section SI/IN designates character broadcast and designates selectively a basic transmission mode and an interruption transmission mode, and data identification sections DI1, DI2 designate the presence of screen control respectively. When a control packet of a memory 3 discriminates the reception of character broadcast, a CPU1 discriminates said various conditions by using the packets a, b, and when all are satisfied, the CPU1 gives a screen program reception detecting signal A to an FF circuit 11 and a light emitting diode 13 displays the reception of the screen program. The content of the program number is added and displayed on the screen by turning on the screen program reception switch 10.
