PURPOSE: To treat an emulsified oil efficiently, by a method wherein waste water is passed through a layered body of a treating material comprising an amine compound supported on a support to bring the waste water into contact with the treating material, with the total amount of oil contents in the waste water treated per day being not more than 0.03pt.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the layered body.
CONSTITUTION: An amine compound having a 6W60 C hydrocarbon group is supported on a cloth or a nonwoven fabric of a fibrous material such as natural or artificial fibers, and the cloth or the nonwoven fabric is layered by winding up into a hollow cylindrical shape to form a treating material layer having a density of 0.1W0.3kg/l. When passing the waste water containing an emulsified oil through the treating material layer to bring the waste water into contact with the treating material, the total amount of the oil contents in the waste water passed through the treating material per day is set to be not more than 0.03pt.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the material. The amine compound supported by the fibrous support is preferably stearyl amine, and the density of the treating material layer is more preferably 0.15W0.25kg/l.
