Title:
METHOD OF CORRECTING CURL OF METAL-DEPOSITED TAPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5849216
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a tape that is good in the state of contact with a head when recording or reproducing is carried out, by stretching a metal-depodited tape transversely with a specific stretching force thereby correcting the curl of the tape.

CONSTITUTION: A thin film of metals 8 (e.g. Fe, Co, Ni, etc.) or alloys (e.g. an alloy of Co and Ni in a weight ratio of 75 to 25) is formed on a substrate film of, for example, a polyester, a polycarbonate, a polypropylene, etc. by (inclined) vacuum evaporation, spattering, ion plating, or the like to obtain a metal-deposited tape. The metal-deposited tape is stretched transversely with a stretching force of 0.4W0.8 times the yield point stress for example by a tenter type stretching machine or the like to correct the curl of the aimed tape.
