Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the edge cracking of a steel strip during mechanical processing by heating each edge of a coil of the steel strip with pure oxygen burners for a short time when the coil is heated before the steel strip is mechanically processed.
CONSTITUTION: When a coil 1 of a steel strip is heated before the steel strip is mechanically processed, each edge 2 of the coil 1 is heated at ≤ about 150°C for a short time of ≤ about 1min by rotating a plurality of pure oxygen burners 5 fixed around a rotating shaft 4.
