PURPOSE: To make the high speed recording of the good quality of picture having little recording unevenness possible, by a method wherein the voltage of the same polarity as that of the pulse voltage applied to a control electrode is temporally applied to the first electrode and the second electrode is connected to a reference potential point.
CONSTITUTION: A first electrode 12 contacts the surface on the low resistance layer 10 side of electrostatic recording paper 8 on this side of electrostatic recording head 11 and a second electrode 13 contacts the surface on the low resistance layer 10 side of electrostatic recording paper 8 on the back side of electrostatic recording head 11. The direct current voltage Vb having the same polarity as that of control voltage is applied to the first electrode 12 and the second electrode 13 is connected to the reference potential point. The point A is preliminarily biased on the positive polarity side by the electrodes 12, 13 and the power source 14, and the electric potential -V2 of point A after applying the first pulse voltage is shifted to the positive polarity side. Therefore, if the voltage Vb of electrode 14 is suitably selected, the electric potential of point A when the second pulse voltage is applied, is raised, the reduction of recording density being prevented and the picture having no recording density unevenness can be recorded at a high speed.
