PURPOSE: To reduce the cooling loss from a cylinder liner by preparing a cylinder-liner basic member from sautenite casted-iron and forming a heat-insulating covered layer made of ceramics onto the inner surface in the upper part of the cylinder liner and applying porous chrome plating onto the slidable surface on the inner surface of the cylinder liner.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder-liner basic member 11 is made of austenite casted- iron, and a heat-insulated coated layer 12 made of ceramics is formed through the multilayered coating metallizing or shrink-fit from the upper edge of the inner peripheral surface of a cylinder liner to the nonslidable surface 11a of a piston ring 13. A porous chrome-plated layer 14 is formed onto the slidable part 11b of the piston ring 13 on the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder liner. Therefore, the cooling loss from the cylinder liner can be reduced.
